Communication in the County

There are many ways that you can find out what is going on in the County… chatting over a coffee works well!

County Website: We have recently launched this at www.girlguidingbsg.org.uk. We aim to have a members only area in the near future.

County Annual Report: This highlights the key achievements in the year mainly in pictorial form. This is issued at the annual meeting whether this is a formal presentation, social evening or Review from the girls. With the Annual Report is a County Directory which lists all Commissioners, Advisers, Trainers and Unit Guiders with their contact details. These are all volunteers, but we do have a paid part time County Administrator who works out of County HQ.

BAGS of News: (Bristol And Gloucestershire South). This is our County Newsletter. The newsletter is printed termly and a paper copy goes to each unit in the county, it is also emailed to those who have requested it and is available on the website.

Training Calendar: This is produced annually by the Adult Support Team and holds information about all of the trainings on offer in the County. All contact details and venues are shown here. Every leader in the County gets a copy.

District Meetings: Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in this traditional forum, not just one representative from each unit. The frequency and format of these depends upon each District, but would normally be 4-5 times a year and can often be combined with a social event so that everyone has the chance to get to know, and support, each other.

Some areas have phone meetings, and some use email or internet ‘chat’ sessions. This depends on what works best for those concerned.
