Rainbow AdviserHi there! My name is Mary Langdon and I am the Rainbow Advisor for our County. It has been my privilege to work with the Centenary team this year to provide you with an amazing Princess Ball which I hope was enjoyed by all. If you have any queries, questions or comments regarding Rainbows and their programme please do not hesitate to contact me. Resources for your Unit available from Region:
A little thought for all you Rainbow Guiders...The time you have spent as a volunteer Be it half a lifetime or just a year. Will have its effect in such far reaching ways, It can never be measured in hours or days. But I want to say thank you for doing your part, For giving your hands and giving your heart. Thanks for the smiles when we wanted to weep, For the camping trips when you couldn’t sleep For the running and phoning and meeting and waiting, For hiking and swimming and roller skating. But thanks more than ever for the years yet to come When someone remembers the job that you’ve done. And memories brighten a young woman’s face In some other time and some other place. SleepoversSleepovers are an optional addition to the Rainbow programme. Rainbows are able to go away for a maximum of 24 hours but this must include travelling time. Rainbows attending a Rainbow Overnight event can now be a maximum of 30 girls and can now include Brownies as long as the number of girls does not exceed 30. Remember to keep to the correct ratios as stated in the Guiding Manual Once Rainbows have participated in a sleepover, they can have a Rainbow Overnight Fun badge (product code: 7262) to help them remember the fun they had. In addition to this they can then work towards their Nights Away Badge (ordered from Region) which was launched 5th September 2009 in celebration of the beginning of our Centenary. This badge can go with the girls through their Guiding life till they reach the goal of spending 30 nights away in total. The new guidelines for sleepovers will be published early 2011.
