Friends of GuidingFriends of Guiding GroupsFriends of Guiding are people (parents, friends, supporters and members) who support the ideals and aspirations of Guiding and who actively work to help their local unit or units, District, Division or other areas. They form a group which is known as “Friends of Guiding in <name of town>” and the aim is to have a group supporting every Division and/or District in the UK. Members of Friends of Guiding groups may wear the special FOG badge, but they do not wear uniform unless they hold a warrant or an appointment which entitles them to do so. How does it work?Members of Friends of Guiding groups help to support guiding in their area. Local adult leaders and Commissioners may be members of the group, but they must never form the majority as the aim is to encourage external people to get involved. We have monthly meetings and outings, helping with units and supporting Division events. Individual Friends of GuidingIf someone would like to support Guiding but they have no contact with a Friends of Guiding group, Trefoil Guild or LINK, they may become an individual Friend of Guiding and are able to wear the Friends of Guiding badge.
