The Trefoil Guild
All 195 Trefoil Guilds in South West England ranging from the Isles of Scilly to Berkshire and including the Isle of Wight and the Channel islands have been challenged to become involved in one of four TREFOIL TRAILS. Trefoil Trails aim to enable neighbouring Guilds to meet up with everyone being able to participate, and to use as many different forms of transport as possible. Special events are planned for link ups on County boundaries when some of the social hallmarks of the Trefoil Guild friendship, fun and food, are expected to be well in evidence..
The first Trail is planned to start on Giriguiding Thinking Day, February 22nd when two members of the Cornwall Lone Guild together with the South West England Trefoil Guild Chairman will fly by helicopter to Penzance then move up to the North Coast of Cornwall. Bristol and South Gloucestershire will welcome members from Somerset on 23rd February and again in April via the Suspension Bridge and will exchange tokens of friendship at the Guide HQ Westmoreland Road in Redland. They will then meet up with members of Wiltshire County at Westonbirt in Gloucestershire on St George’s day (23rd April) finally going to Swindon on 10th May to join up with the three other routes in Swindon for the Annual Region Meeting on 10th May.
To commemorate this event, a granite stone Trefoil Guild Badge will be assembled with every County contributing to the design.
